Objective: Carry out qualitative research in the region to clarify vulnerabilities
The Regio Deal Parkstad Limburg was launched in 2019, as part of the larger Regio Deals program aimed at increasing region prosperity. Poverty, unhealthiness, unemployment, vacancy and insecurity are the order of the day in various districts and neighbourhoods in Parkstad Limburg. Compared to the Dutch average and the average of the province of Limburg, the problems and disadvantages are large and are passed on from generation-to-generation. The region is facing a considerable challenge. The ambition for Parkstad Limburg is to become a sustainable, vital and strong region that is on par with the province of Limburg and the Netherlands. By means of the Regio Deal, the State, City Region Parkstad Limburg, Province of Limburg, municipalities, companies, knowledge institutions and social organisations will work together intensively from 2019 onwards to boost the socio-physical liveability and spatial and socio-economic structure in the region. Within this framework, the emphasis will be on six pillars, which will be deployed particularly in the most vulnerable neighbourhoods and districts in the region.
Neimed, the socio-economic knowledge centre, was asked by Parkstad Limburg to conduct qualitative research into the Regio Deal Parkstad Limburg. Regional Capital carried out desk research, collected quantitative data of various indicators within the different pillars, and conducted expert interviews. The results are in report form below (in Dutch).
