Commissioned by: Regional Capital & Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) Maastricht University (2021-ongoing)
Objective: Conduct a scientific study ‘Relating environmental factors and personality traits to location choice of recent graduates in the Netherlands’.
There is ample evidence that location factors such as employment opportunities or the availability of amenities and facilities are a powerful predictor of location choice. Recent research suggests that citizens’ mean personality traits could be an additional predictor of where people choose to live. Regional Capital is conducting further research into these areas. Our first results show robust associations between personality traits and several environmental characteristics. In addition, we show that personality traits play a role in graduates’ location choices.
